HOW TO REPAIR HUB AND BEARINGS

[parts/spindle_seal.htm]

Why Bearing Buddy ® is needed:

During launching, boat trailer wheel hubs, heated by travel, are suddenly cooled.  A vacuum is created inside the hub, which sucks in water and grit through the rear seals.  Water in the hubs will caused the bearings to rust and pit,  and bearing failure can be expected within two seasons.  Utility, ATV, horse, and RV trailers can suffer similar damage when condensation moisture from the air is sucked into hot hubs as they cool.

How Bearing Buddy® works:

The axle hub is filled with grease through the Bearing Buddy®, until the grease forces the Bearing Buddy® piston outward about 1/8 inch.  The spring-loaded piston pushes against the grease, which maintains a slight pressure inside the hub greater than the outside environment.  Water, grit and condensation cannot enter the hub because of this pressure.  Trailer wheel hubs can be completely submerged.
